What is holiday? You tell me.

  • Holidays are for chumps. There is a perceived increase of Demand for every sector, sometimes not justifiable.
    • Traveling – Air plane tickets can be 3x-5x than normal
    • Lodging – Same as air planes, but 2x-3x
    • Specific holiday items – Eg. Finding Christmas Tree during Christmas
    • Restaurants – There is an automatic surcharge wherever you go. Same food. Same menu.
  • Many Upsides not to celebrate (or avoiding the downsides):
    • Avoiding crowded areas. It’s also the places where accident and crimes occur a lot more frequently.
    • Easier to receive/spread diseases (not pertaining to covid specifically but very relevant)
    • The concept of holiday celebrations and winding down does not go hand in hand.
    • Not relatable.
      • Eg. Thanksgiving. National Day of the People’s Republic of China
    • Productivity and personal growth. Good to shuffle through difficult tasks or books.
      • E.g. I revamped this website during Christmas.
  • I do celebrate my vacations immediately after “holidays”. It’s a good time to pick up discounts or visit places with less tourists.
  • My reasons does not apply to everyone.
